Joost Klein, who previously got us all chopping at Europapa, has released his first new song after the Eurovision Song Contest drama. Joost’s brand new track has been named Luchtballon. Although the single was launched when most of us were still in dreamland, the music video is already at number 15 in the trending list on YouTube.
Joost Klein expresses his feelings in Luchtballon
In the new song Luchtballon, Joost Klein gives free rein to his feelings about the overwhelming world around him. “Far too many stimuli. One has this, the other has that,” he raps. The lyrics seem not only to be about his own struggles, but could also hint at the recent disqualification at the Eurovision Song Contest. “I just want to live my life. Give me some time. I’m at a lonely height and you have to realize that,” the new song continues.
Hints at Eurovision drama in artwork and text
The song, which lasts just over two minutes, is an adaptation of the song Right Here Waiting For You by Richard Marx. Although Joost does not explicitly mention the Eurovision Song Contest in his lyrics, there are clear hints to his experiences during the event. The album’s artwork shows his signature blue Eurovision outfit and the famous ‘blue bird’ that was part of his act in Malmö, Sweden.
The text continues under the new song by Joost Klein.

Uncertain future after Eurovision Song Contest
The incident at the Eurovision Song Contest, in which Joost was disqualified due to a ‘threatening movement’ towards a camerawoman, is still a hot topic. The police investigation is ongoing and it is unclear when the case will occur. Joost’s lawyer also wants to hear witnesses in the Netherlands, which seems to be slowing things down. However, Joost’s lawyer remains positive about the outcome of the investigation. “I’m sure if the police do a proper investigation, he won’t be prosecuted.”
F*ck Eurovision
Joost Klein himself has not said much about the Eurovision drama, but he did give free rein to his emotions during a show in Vancouver. In the middle of his performance he lashed out at the Eurovision Song Contest. From the stage he shouted “fuck Eurovision” at the top of his voice and then started headbanging wildly to the music playing in the background. The audience went wild and Joost once again proved that he also has many fans far beyond the border.
