With your hair type you would have to go to the hairdresser so often

This is how you keep your locks beautiful!

With a shorter cut, the hair seems to grow very quickly and a visit to the hairdresser is therefore essential every now and then. These visits are also important with longer hair to keep your hair healthy. But how often a hairdresser visit is necessary does not only depend on the hair length and your own wishes. Your hair type also influences this

Cut regularly

We all know by now that you need to have your hair trimmed regularly if you want to keep it healthy. “This removes the weaker points that would otherwise split,” hairstylist Jay Small explains to Shape. “These splits can weaken the hair or cause breakage, which can reduce your hair length. Cutting the ends of your hair will limit breakage and keep the hair looking polished.”

Cutting your hair regularly will not cause it to suddenly grow five centimeters afterwards. However, it does ensure that you can maintain your length and that you give your hair health a boost. But how often exactly should you go to the hairdresser? That depends on exactly what kind of hair you have.

Short hair

A short haircut often loses its silhouette if it is a few centimeters longer. For this reason, people with short hair should schedule regular visits to their hairstylist. Do you have a pixie-style haircut? Then Small recommends going once every four to six weeks. For a chin-length bob, it is best to go to the hairdresser for a trim within eight to ten weeks.

Long, straight hair

According to Small, if you have long, straight hair, it’s best to get your locks cut every eight to 12 weeks. Moreover, according to the stylist, long hair looks healthier and fuller when it is cut in a straight line, also called the blunt cut.

On the other hand, long, straight hair is also an easy hairstyle. So judge carefully how your hair looks. It hasn’t even been eight weeks since you went to the hairdresser, but are you already noticing dry, brittle ends (because you’ve just been on a sun holiday, for example)? Then it goes without saying that a haircut is not an unnecessary luxury.

Long wavy or curly hair

The hairstylist states that a blunt cut looks good on women with long, straight hair. Women with curly or wavy hair are less happy about this. They are most satisfied with a soft-edged look. That’s why Small says it’s better to go a little longer between haircuts if you have curly or wavy hair. According to him, it is best to leave twelve to sixteen weeks between haircuts.
