These places are often forgotten, research shows.
Although the weather doesn’t quite show it yet, spring is already in sight. Are you eager to start the big spring cleaning? Don’t forget the corners below.
Corners
No matter how often you use a vacuum cleaner or clean cloth, there are always corners that you forget to clean. Helping has collected a few messy places that you probably haven’t thought of yet. Below we have listed a few of those corners for you, because: clean space, clear mind. Let’s begin!
1. The dust on your lamps
If your lamps only emit dull light, it is high time to clean them. A dark room not only affects your eyes, but also your mental health. Bad light reduces your productivity. Ouch! Remove the light bulbs and clean them with a cloth and a little soapy water. Then make sure you dry them well.
2. The trash can
Something you use every day, but is often forgotten to clean: the garbage can. How do you clean it effectively? Take the trash outside and use an antibacterial cleaner on both the inside and outside. Then rinse it thoroughly and dry it thoroughly before putting it back indoors.
3. Kitchen appliances
Can openers, toasters and coffee makers are our everyday heroes in the kitchen and together they form a large bacterial zoo. Empty the toaster’s crumb tray and clean the can openers to prevent food contamination. One of the most important appliances during spring cleaning is the oven. The oven and stove regularly collect grease and grime, use an oven cleaner to clean the inside and knobs. This applies to all household appliances: the cleaner, the longer their lifespan.
4. The washing machine
You can only get your clothes really clean if the washing machine is also clean. Rust and mold in particular can quickly multiply due to the use of water and chemicals. Does your washing machine no longer smell so clean? Then clean it by running a damp cloth through the drum and compartments and let it run hot without any laundry in it.
5. Light switches
Light switches are elements that you touch all the time, but are often forgotten during cleaning. From fingerprints to smudges and bacteria, everything collects on those buttons. Yikes! What happens if you don’t clean it? According to Helping, you then run the risk of the dirt being spread over the countertop and on the wall. A mild disinfectant cleaning agent can help and for a thorough cleaning you can also use a toothbrush and soapy water.
6. Your mattress
Hold your breath! Because did you know that a mattress usually collects millions of mites? Ieks! Sprinkle baking soda all over your mattress and let it sit for an hour. Then vacuum your mattress thoroughly so that all grains of salt have been sucked up. Too much effort? Airing out your mattress with the window open also helps enormously.
