Why you may not recognize yourself in your zodiac sign

Maybe you don’t believe in it anyway, or you are very active with it: zodiac signs. In any case, it is a nice way to find character traits in your zodiac sign and you can get to know yourself (and others) a lot better. But what if you don’t recognize yourself at all in your zodiac sign? This could be the reason.

Not recognizing your zodiac sign

The same applies to believers and non-believers: it is a fun activity to consult your zodiac sign about your own character. It’s very interesting to see how many things are right for you… or not! It is of course very annoying when you see everyone around you so enthusiastic about his or her zodiac sign, but you do not recognize yourself in yours at all. How is that possible?

Moon sign and ascendant

If you don’t have those typical “Oh, that’s exactly me” moments in your horoscopes, then the whole phenomenon is hard to believe. Yet it is not surprising that you do not recognize yourself in your zodiac sign alone. There is much more to astrology than that. There’s a good chance it has to do with your moon sign and your ascendant.

Birth

Your zodiac sign is determined when you were born – we then look at the position of the sun at the moment you came to earth. But it goes much further than just the position of the sun. We also look at the position of the moon during your birth; we call this our moon sign. And now let this moon sign say much more about your personality than your sun sign (zodiac sign) alone. There is also the ascendant, the zodiac sign that was rising on the horizon when you were born.

The three signs

What do these three have to do with each other? And why are they so important in highlighting who you actually are? We have briefly listed it for you.

  • Sun sign (zodiac sign): says a lot about who you are at your core
  • Moon sign: has a lot of influence on your feelings and emotions
  • Ascendant: says a lot about who you would actually like to be

These three signs together ultimately say much more about yourself than your sun sign alone. Sounds pretty logical, right? Just look at the difference between a Cancer with a Sagittarius ascendant and a Cancer with a Pisces ascendant. Those are guaranteed to be two very different personalities.

Birth chart

Are you also curious about your moon sign and ascendant? You can find out very easily with a birth chart. For this you need your date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. You can find your birth chart on this website, for example!
