What is actually the most important meal of the day?

Is your breakfast really the most important meal of the day or is this a myth? We have sorted this out for you. Read more soon. From now on you know which meal you absolutely should not skip.

The most important meal

Breakfast is often called the most important meal of the day because it gives you energy and helps digestion. Breakfast gives you a good start to the day and helps you concentrate in certain situations. Research shows that people who eat breakfast consume more fiber, calcium, zinc and iron and vitamins A, B2 and C.

Why is your breakfast so important?

Some people can’t leave the house without breakfast and others can easily go without it until noon. Eating breakfast starts your body full of energy. Your body has had to go all night without eating, so it needs energy again. The most important thing is that your first meal is a healthy choice. Listen to your body. Do you wake up with a growling stomach and are you really looking forward to breakfast? Go for it and enjoy a delicious meal. If not, start your day with a glass of water or tea and choose a later time to eat quietly.

A healthy breakfast consists of fiber. These are only found in plant products and not in animal foods. Think of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, kernels, legumes and seeds. So start your breakfast with fruit, so you will more quickly meet the nutritional advice of at least 250 grams of vegetables and at least 200 grams of fruit.

Skip breakfast?

Is skipping breakfast really smart, such as with intermittent fasting? This is a form of alternate fasting. Every day you should fast for 16 hours straight and follow a normal meal pattern for 8 hours. This depends on what you eat the rest of the day. Breakfast is often skipped, but moved to lunch time. Some people eat twice a day and snack in between, but often forget that a snack is a small meal. It is best to eat three times and not to snack in between. When skipping one main meal, you often see that people do not get enough nutrients.

Energy

If you eat breakfast in the morning, you will benefit from it for the rest of the day. This has to do with your blood sugar level and satiety that breakfast provides. By choosing fiber-rich foods, you will feel fuller for longer. This means you are less bothered by peaks and valleys in your energy.
