What ‘era’ are you in? Do the test

Life is full of surprises and unexpected events. As a result, you may quickly find yourself in a new ‘era’. Yes, here we go again… Gen Z has coined yet another new concept. There are many different eras and by taking the test below you will find out which era you are in now.

What is an ‘era’?

If you look for the term era in the dictionary, you will learn that era, also called main era, is part of the geological time scale. In other words: it is a name for a period in history. But that is not what ‘era’ stands for in this article. Gen Z has given a new meaning to the word in which it is not about history, but about the present. It describes an (often) short phase in your life that is characterized by everyday actions.

1. It’s Sunday evening: have you already prepared the planning for next week?

  • A: Of course!
  • B: I’m way too busy, but I’m doing my best.
  • C: I know when I’m going to exercise, I’ll figure out the rest.
  • D: I don’t even remember what I did last week…

2. What would you do if you were not allowed to use your cell phone for 24 hours?

  • A: I don’t use my cell phone that much anyway, so this isn’t really a challenge.
  • B: How should I reach my partner?
  • C: There is plenty to do: running, cooking, adjusting my goals, exercising, etc.
  • D: I’ll probably just go to sleep.

3. Someone asks you on a date, how nice!

  • A: Nice? But is that person really worth my time?
  • B: I’m almost married already… So no, thanks
  • C: Shall we go to the gym together?
  • D: A date?? I’m coming! (Hopefully it’s my ex)

4. “I miss…” does a name immediately come to mind?

  • A: No, lol.
  • B: Yes, but I will see that person happy again very soon!
  • C: Sometimes I miss who I used to be.
  • D: I’m almost starting to cry again

5. Do you have a good balance in your life?

  • A: Yes: Focus 80-100% on myself.
  • B: Not always, but I try.
  • C: I live by the 80/20 rule.
  • D: Balance?

6. Upon entering your room…

  • A: …it smells like vanilla.
  • B: … you immediately notice the many photos on the wall.
  • C: …there are probably several white Nike socks on the floor.
  • D: … you have to be careful not to trip over all the stuff.

7. What does your vision of the future look like?

  • A: Hopeful, with big dreams.
  • B: House, tree, animal…
  • C: I’ll have to think about that a little more.
  • D: I don’t plan that far ahead.

Do you have the most A’s?

It girl era

You are clearly in your ‘it girl era’. You have your life in order, you think about your future and most importantly: you make yourself a priority, but you do not forget the people around you. You do your best to drink, eat and exercise enough every day. And self-care is also never forgotten for a day.

Do you have the most B’s?

Lover era

This Christmas you will most likely bring a plus 1, because it is clear that you are in your ‘lover era’. You are completely head over heels in love with your partner, how sweet! Have you already made plans for 2024?

Do you have the most C’s?

Fit girl era

As a real ‘fit girl’ you live according to the 80/20 rule: this means that you choose 80% healthy food and 20% less healthy food in a certain period of time. But you also apply this rule when dividing your time: 80% of your time you make it a priority to get the most out of yourself and your body. And in that 20%, these rules are largely forgotten. Be sporty!

Do you have the most D’s?

Messy era

Given your answers, it is clear that you are in the ‘messy era’. This means one of these options: you are someone who always lives in chaos or you suffer from a broken heart. If it’s the second option, give yourself time to get over it. Don’t be too hard on yourself, keep looking for distractions and talk about it with others.

Small sidenote: everyone experiences happiness differently. While one person is happy with the ‘it girl era’, another is happy with a different ‘era’. The most important thing is to ask yourself: am I happy? If the answer to this is a resounding ‘yes’, then keep it up. If there is doubt in your answer or it is clearly ‘no’, think about what does make you happy. It might help to talk to someone around you or a professional.
