Joost grew up in Friesland, where he had a tough childhood. As a young boy, Joost loses both parents. He is only in seventh grade when his father dies of cancer. And less than a year later his mother died of a cardiac arrest.
Youth
Joost grew up in Stiens and Britsum, two villages in the municipality of Leeuwarden. Here he lived with his parents and older brother and sister, who were about fifteen years older than him. Joost went to school at the Stedelijk Gymnasium Leeuwarden.
Career
From 2008 to 2016, Joost was active on YouTube under the name EenhoornJoost. Since 2016, he has exchanged life as a YouTuber for an artist and writer. He only uses his YouTube channel, now called Joost Klein, to share his music.
In 2015 he released his first song as a rapper: 511. After which he released his first EP Homeless in 2016, which includes his popular singles Zelfmaken and Bitches. In 2017 and 2018, Joost was briefly under contract with Top Notch. During this time his first mixtape ‘Scandinavian Boy’ was released and his second EP M Van Marketing. Joost soon founded his own label Albino Records. His debut album Albino was released under his own label in 2019. Four more albums were subsequently released: 1983, Joost Klein 7, Albino Sports Vol.1 and Fryslân. And he also released many singles, including the big hits Wachtmuziek and Friesenjung.
