Princess Kate goes outside for the first time since surgery

A good sign!

It has now been more than three weeks since Kate, the Princess of Wales, had to go under the knife for a ‘planned procedure’. The Firm is keeping tight-lipped about the how and why, and in the meantime HRH has cleared her agenda for the coming weeks. However, at the moment she would not be staying at Adelaide Cottage, but has exchanged the Waleses’ home base for another accommodation.

To recover

In mid-January, the news from Buckingham came as a bolt from the blue that Catherine, Princess of Wales, was in hospital. She had undergone surgery on her abdomen and subsequently had to stay in hospital for quite some time to recover. The princess was only allowed to return home at the end of January, and she has not been spotted in public since. In fact, according to an official report from Kensington Palace, we shouldn’t expect to see His Highness before Easter.

However, things now seem to be going a bit better for Kate, as several sources report that she has left Adelaide Cottage for the first time since her operation.

Sandringham

According to The Daily Mail, Catherine and her family left for the Sandringham estate in Norfolk last Friday. King Charles and Queen Camilla are also located here at the moment, and that makes visiting grandparents with the kids just that little bit easier. The stay at Sandringham coincides with a school holiday for the Wales members, who can now enjoy a week off.

The tabloid newspaper writes that Princess Kate is recovering well, according to sources. “She was looking forward to a change of scene and being able to take it easy in Norfolk while the kids let off some steam with William.”

It will undoubtedly be a nice feeling for Wiliam to be close to both his wife and father, now that Charles is being treated for a recent cancer diagnosis. He reportedly started his treatments last Tuesday.

Privacy

Unlike her father-in-law, Kate’s team does not reveal much about the procedure she had to undergo. Despite endless speculation and concerns about the princess’s health (let’s face it: doctors don’t keep you in the hospital for two weeks for nothing), Kensington Palace does not want to say anything about how the princess is doing.

That’s in stark contrast to Charles. For example, the best man was remarkably open about his prostate surgery – according to an official message to create more ‘awareness’. Also regarding his cancer diagnosis, the court wrote: “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to avoid speculation, and in the hope that this can support public understanding for everyone in the world who is dealing with cancer.”
