Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II had little sympathy for President Donald Trump. In a new biography, A Voyage Around the Queen, the Queen’s unvarnished opinion is laid out in detail.
Meeting with Trump
According to the biography, Elizabeth met the then-president a number of times. Trump and Melania even went to Buckingham Palace for tea in 2019. But Elizabeth? She was not exactly happy about the visit afterwards. “A few weeks after the visit, Elizabeth told a luncheon guest that she found Trump very rude,” the book says. “She was particularly annoyed by the fact that Trump was constantly looking over her shoulder, as if he was looking for someone more interesting.”
The author also writes that Elizabeth could not imagine that Melania was with her husband out of love. “She believed that Trump and his wife Melania had made some kind of deal. Because why else would she stay married to him?” Ha! So even queens can be nice gossips…

Did Trump also have a negative opinion of the Queen? Well, not necessarily. According to the book, the president was even convinced that he was the nicest guest Elizabeth had ever received. “There are people who say they have never seen the Queen enjoy herself so much,” Trump once told Fox News. But then again, the former president often says things that turn out to be quite untrue, of course…
Waiting for the queen
After Trump’s first visit to Buckingham Palace in 2018, the president had not made himself popular among royal fans. In a speech afterwards, he proudly said that he had waited for the queen for ‘a good fifteen minutes’. “I was waiting there,” he said. “I was about 15 minutes early, so my wife and I were waiting and that’s fine. Because yes, it is the queen.”
It was already disrespectful to proclaim this, but even more strange because it turned out to be completely untrue! Photos and videos showed that Elizabeth had been ready for a long time, and even checked her watch because the president himself was 10 minutes late. Oh well, some people just have their own truth.
