Ah! Origin of Máxima’s abdication jewelry discovered

During the abdication of Queen Beatrix, Máxima wore beautiful jewelry made of kunzite and diamonds. For a long time its origin was unknown. Until our jewelry expert Edwin came up with more information!

The set consists of earrings, a large, teardrop-shaped pendant, a ring with teardrop-shaped kunzite and a rectangular brooch. The different parts can be combined with each other thanks to an ingenious system with hooks and screws. Máxima wore the large drop-shaped pendant to the rectangular brooch during the abdication.

The set first came into focus in 2009, when Queen Beatrix opened an exhibition at the Hermitage in Amsterdam. In the photo below I see the earrings, the ring and the rectangular brooch as a pendant.

During King Charles’s coronation reception, Amalia wore the large drop on a necklace.

The drop is also sometimes attached to one of Máxima’s bow brooches.

On Budget Day 2010, the rectangular brooch stole the show.

On a diamond necklace:

As mentioned, it was unknown for a long time where the jewelry set came from. Queen Beatrix had already been seen wearing it before her abdication. Máxima and Amalia also appeared to be familiar with the set. Today our jewelry expert Edwin came up with the redeeming answer. The set was made by the Hague goldsmith Herman Romberg. From Dutch soil! The jeweler says on Instagram that he likes to see how the set is worn by different generations.
