Now that it’s warmer, we’re going outside more and more. And who doesn’t like picnics? This is how you put together the perfect picnic.
The perfect picnic
Cozy together with friends, family or a partner on a blanket in the sun, isn’t that the dream? Catching up, listening to music and eating some snacks on the grass of your favorite park doesn’t have to be difficult. But do you really want to do it right? Then read on.
1. Planning
Of course, to do something fun you have to plan it. A quick and impulsive session is simple, but you don’t want to forget anything about the perfect meal in the great outdoors. Think of it as a small party: think about how it will go and what you need to make it go well. Make sure you have a nice rug, possibly crockery, drinking glasses, cutlery and napkins. If necessary, make a checklist of items that you definitely want to take with you, so you won’t forget anything.
2. The location
You can sit on a patch of grass almost anywhere, but some places are simply more pleasant than others. The place sets the mood: you can sit comfortably at a table, you can swim by the water and sit under a large tree to cool off on hot days. Try to choose a place that is easily accessible, because if you have to carry a lot of stuff, it is not fun to walk a long distance. Also pay close attention to the ground: if it is wet, you probably don’t want to sit there because your bottom will get wet. And keep an eye out for nettles and pesky branches: these don’t make the experience any better either.
3. Snacks and drinks
You want to sit comfortably, but also want to be able to drink delicious snacks and drinks. It may not be very convenient to take delicate food with you, because carrying it around means it needs to be able to take a beating and not fall apart immediately. It is also important to know that you will unknowingly eat a little more during a picnic, but you should be careful not to take too much with you: many packages are not resealable and the food is often no longer tasty when you get home. Also consider whether you are in a sweet or savory mood, or a combination of the two. This way you can make a cheese board but also a dessert bowl. Or pick up a pizza for extra convenience.
4. Styling
Look, the perfect picnic doesn’t have to be beautiful, it should be fun, but you can change the atmosphere in a positive direction if it looks nice. Therefore, make sure you have a colorful rug and, if necessary, bring pillows for extra comfort. You can also hang lights in the garden to make it extra attractive, or take a few candle stands with you and place them a little further from the rug (or on the table). Also place the food on beautiful plates, then it will look extra neat. But remember: the most important thing is to have fun, so don’t spend hours taking photos for the perfect picture.
