At the Emmys they are suddenly side by side again: the original cast of the hit series Grey’s Anatomy! Ellen Pompeo (54), Katherine Heigl (45), Justin Chambers (53) and Co. can no longer be seen as doctors at the famous Seattle Grace Hospital. However, it was only recently announced that Ellen will return as supporting characters in the new season together with James Pickens Jr. (69) and Chandra Wilson (54). Before that happens, they’re celebrating a big reunion!
Katherine talks to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet about the special moment. “It sounds so cheesy, but it was just heartwarming,” enthuses the actress about the big reunion. The fact that they are all meeting again to present an award feels “strange but nostalgic”. Also the ex-protagonist Ellen proves her right: She explains that the show not only had a lasting influence on the television landscape, but also created lifelong friendships.
Katherine She goes on to say that she is still approached by fans of the show, even though she left almost 15 years ago. It’s particularly amazing how many young people recognize her as surgeon Izzie Stevens: “They talk to you and you just ask yourself: How old are you? How do you even know this series?”
