Belly button tops, strapless tops, and a complete disregard for protocols.
Dinners, shopping sprees, and just a bit of island sightseeing – the Spanish royals always keep it ‘nice and simple’ when it comes to their summer vacations. As Queen Letizia, Princesses Leonor and Sofía, and Queen Sofía proved yesterday during a trip to Palma.
Palma de Mallorca
In the summer there are a few certainties: our Oranges go to Greece, the barrels and the aristos stroll en masse along the southern French coast, and the Bourbons spend their free time on the island of Mallorca. This year too!
This weekend, for example, the members of Casa Real were spotted at the restaurant Mía with great-aunt Irene and one of Sofía’s ladies-in-waiting for a nice dinner, and yesterday it was time for a nice girls’ afternoon with Leti, her mother-in-law, and her daughters.
Airy outfits
Although they are of course in the spotlight as a royal family and there are always some official events taking place on the island, the summer is mainly about fun and freedom. And we see that reflected in the outfits of the Spanish royals.
So the protocols are ignored for a while, and the ladies opt for their most airy outfits – and who can blame them, because the temperatures in Mallorca are constantly well above thirty degrees!
In any case, it produces some lovely girl gang snaps, with daughter Sofía in a crop top and crown princess in a casual, strapless top:
Instagram account @RoyalFashionPolice has, as usual, unpacked the outfit details. Princess Leonor is wearing a floral top by Subdued with airy white trousers and the same Sézane bag she carried on Sunday night.
Queen Letizia, in turn, wore a matching tie-dye top and skirt by the label Babbaki, with stylish sunglasses by her go-to luxury label Carolina Herrera and a set of flats by Trenza.
A sweet detail about Princess Sofía’s outfit is that she, just like her mother often does in the summer, carries a clutch from Feel Mallorca – a locally produced brand that is committed to sustainability. This is of course a great way for a princess to show that you are involved with the locals, right?
Holiday vibes
A nice afternoon with the girls looks the same for the Bourbons as it does for many of us. With daughter Leonor behind the wheel, the foursome arrived in Palma…
Then we did some fun shopping…
…And wandered through plazas and markets.
Summer flair
A while ago, Queen Letizia was in the news for her choice of clothing in Mallorca, when she wore a short Zara dress, which critics thought looked less than regal.
Since then, it seems that the queen has been choosing long dresses a little more often – which, by the way, look just as stylish on her. Who knows: maybe that Zara dress will make an appearance in the coming weeks?
