A real fashion spectacle!
More than two years after the purchase, Queen Máxima is finally wearing her second dress by designer Iris van Herpen. And how! She opened the Sculpting the Senses exhibition in Paris with her on Tuesday evening, and that happened of course in a breathtaking dress by the designer herself.

Queen Máxima belongs in the list between Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez – all fans of the dresses of fashion designer Iris van Herpen. Normally her works can only be admired during fashion shows, but from today also in the museum! And in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the largest museum for decorative arts in Europe. Van Herpen was invited to exhibit in tribute to her progressive designs, and none other than Queen Máxima was given the honor of opening the international exhibition of her work.
Beautiful design
Such a spectacular opening by a great fashion designer naturally requires a grandiose dress from his hand. And it worked! The Queen was not simply dressed in a design for the occasion, but – as we have come to expect from Iris and her team – Her Majesty’s exclusive gown was worked on with precision for a long time.
Wow! You can see at a glance that this artistic couture creation is a work by Van Herpen. The design has beautiful lines, crazy cape sleeves and a classic pleated skirt. Clearly made for her body!
Admiration
In fluent French, Máx speaks highly of the designer’s work. After the opening, the queen is given a tour and can admire the special creations with her own eyes. She also speaks with curator Cloé Pitiot and co-curator Louise Curtis and the curators of the nine themes of the exhibition. Queen Máxima will also discuss the creation of the exhibition with those involved in the museum and Van Herpen’s studio.
The French First Lady Brigitte Macron was one of the guests of honor alongside Máxima, and our always charming queen was happy to accommodate that. A special detail of her outfit was the evening bag from Dior, which she received from Brigitte during the state visit. Oui oui, a successful evening!
