Princess Louise (Belgium) is celebrating!

Hooray for the Belgian Princess Louise. Today she blows out 20 candles.

Louise Sophie Mary of Saxony Coburg, Princess of Belgium, is the eldest and only daughter of Prince Laurent and Princess Claire of Belgium. She was born on February 6, 2004 in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe in Belgium.

In addition to Louise, Laurent and Claire have twins, the boys Nicolas and Aymeric, born on December 13, 2005.

Louise mainly comes into the picture at family events, such as special birthdays or weddings. We rarely see her otherwise.

Here we see her at the celebration of Queen Fabiola’s 80th birthday. As a young girl she often wore a smock dress. Here complete with matching headband.

During the first years of her school life, Louise went to a private school in Tervuren, where she received lessons in English and French. As a 6-year-old girl, Louise went to the Lycée Français Jean Monnet in Uccle. This is a French state school, where Dutch is not taught. Her parents’ decision is being criticized in politics. Prince Laurent does not trust Belgian educational methods, given his own bad school experiences, and therefore prefers to send his children to a French school. But Claire also plays an important role here. Claire grew up speaking French and English. Her mother was a French-speaking woman who married an Englishman. The lyceum that Louise, Nicolas and Aymeric attend teaches half of the time in French and the other half of the time in English.

First communion

Princess Louise’s first communion took place on a Thursday morning in 2011. The entire royal family is present at the ceremony, which is held in the small parish of Sainte-Catherine in Bonlez, a borough of Chaumont-Gistoux.

Bridesmaid

At the wedding of Prince Amedeo and Lili Rosboch von Wolkenstein in 2014, Princess Louise was one of the bridesmaids. Her cousin Princess Elisabeth is also a bridesmaid.

Fashion interest

Louise shows an interest in fashion. As a 15-year-old girl, she did an internship at Fashion House Scapa for a while. At this royal supplier, she gets to see a broad picture of the fashion sector. She shows a lot of interest in the fashion world and can help clients in the clothing store in Antwerp. She also goes out with buyers to purchase new collections. She also visits clothing manufacturer Flanders Fashion Makers in Alken and goes to the Fashion Museum in Hasselt. Although she seems to have a lot of interest in fashion, her field of study goes in a more general direction.

Study in the Netherlands

Since she was 18, Princess Louise has been studying Liberal Arts and Science at Maastricht University. During this study, students learn to understand complex issues and look for creative solutions. In this course you can take physics, mathematics, chemistry and entrepreneurship, among other things. An optimal study choice if you have a broad interest in science subjects and do not want to be tied to a specific field of study.

Clothing

Louise has now grown into a real young lady. Her interest in fashion is clearly visible in her clothing choices. During a night out with her father, she wears a midi dress from Needle & Thread.

At the wedding of her cousin Princess Maria Laura, Princess Louise wore a bright pink dress from Rodarte with a floral headband from Fabienne Delvigne.

Rummaging through grandma Paola’s closet can also be fun!

Louise has a great bond with her 2 ‘brothers’, who have long since surpassed her in height. There are also good friendships with the daughters of Prince Carlos and Camilla de Bourbon. The latter also have a friendly relationship with Laurent and Claire themselves.
