Aha: this is how you lose the kilos after your fortieth birthday

Guaranteed results!

With summer approaching, we want to feel good about ourselves. Appearing fit on the terrace in our summer dresses is of course essential for a good time. Of course we always look fabulous, but if you still want to lose a few stubborn winter kilos, we have some good tips for you.

Build up slowly

To temporarily adopt a new lifestyle that will allow you to lose a few kilos, we advise you not to go too fast. Doing so can put extra stress on your body, which could slow down your metabolism. And then all the hard work is for nothing. Therefore, start with a nice walk, do some stretching and slowly build up cardio in your training. Take an extra long walk when you walk the dog, or get some fresh air after dinner. All those extra steps will certainly work in your favor when you want to lose weight.

Weight training

No need to panic, strength training doesn’t mean you have to throw heavy weights in the gym every day. Good results are within reach with just training with light weights once or twice a week. Alternate the days on which you do strength training with days for cardio to maintain your strength. The great thing about strength training is that you can focus on specific muscle groups. Do you want beautiful arms? Then train the different muscles in your arms with different exercises. We understand that you may not want big muscular arms like the Hulk, but you don’t have to worry about this. That road takes a very long time, so you won’t suddenly wake up with it.

The right nutrition

Of course, in addition to exercising, it is also extremely important to pay attention to what you eat. A protein-rich diet is important to help with weight loss, and also helps you feel full for a long time. As if that wasn’t enough reason to increase your protein intake, it also gives you energy.

Eating enough vegetables is also important. They are packed with important nutrients and fiber, something your body absolutely needs to function properly. Thanks to these properties, vegetables also give you a long feeling of satiety, so you are less likely to get hungry!

Eat on time

We’ve all been there: leaving the house in a hurry in the morning without breakfast. Unfortunately, this has an impact on your eating habits for the rest of the day. If you eat breakfast with enough fiber, you will be less hungry later in the day, which means you will automatically eat less and therefore lower your calorie intake. Suddenly that irresistible urge for those delicious chocolates in the evening is a lot less persistent.

Get enough sleep

Sufficient sleep also has a positive effect on weight loss. Ha! We’d like to hear that. When you spend less than seven hours a night in dreamland, metabolic changes can occur that also make losing weight more difficult. Too little sleep can also lead to more stress. And in turn, stress causes an increased level of cortisol, the stress hormone in our body. And unfortunately, this crook also causes our fat storage to increase.

Drink enough water

Did you know that our hunger is sometimes because we drink too little? By properly hydrating, your appetite will decrease and your fat burning will be extra stimulated. Drinking enough is therefore important. But unfortunately, for these benefits you have to opt for water and skip soda! Soft drinks contain a lot of sugars, which our bodies can store as fat. So, we have to exchange our beloved glass of bitter lemon with ice for a glass of water if we want to lose weight.

Ask for help

Perhaps one of the biggest stumbling blocks is the social aspect. Unfortunately, the calories from those few glasses of rosé with friends also add up, but should we cancel our plans? Certainly not. Get support from the people around you and find a buddy to exercise with. Exercising is easier to maintain as a couple, you can cook a healthy meal together and it is simply a lot more fun together than alone!
