Recently we saw Marcel leave B&B Vol Liefde with a heavy heart, because the spark did not fly with Mirjam in sunny South Africa. While it seemed as if Marcel had trouble listening to Mirjam and asked few questions, he himself says that this was not the case at all. Once home, Marcel receives support from an unexpected corner. Marcel turns out to have a romantic past with none other than Monique van Zessen from Married At First Sight!

Yes, you read that right: these two popular love shows are now suddenly connected. How do we know this? Well, Marcel and Monique have been in open contact on Instagram after Marcel had to leave Mirjam’s B&B. Mind blown, right?
A quick refresher: Monique in Married At First Sight
For those who don’t remember: Monique participated in the sixth season of Married At First Sight and was paired with Aron. It seemed like a match made in heaven for a while, but unfortunately their relationship ended shortly after the recordings. Apparently Monique also had a thing for Marcel, because she left an interesting message on his Instagram. “Nice that we’re in touch again. I hope to see you soon”, Monique wrote under one of Marcel’s posts.

And as if that wasn’t enough hints, Marcel responded openly to Monique’s message with the following words: “Hi Monique, thank you and that’s mutual. It’s been too long and old love never dies”, according to Marcel. Uhm, hello? Old love? That sounds like something was definitely going on between these two reality stars! But wait, there’s a twist…

Unfortunately for Marcel (and for us, because imagine how much fun that would have been), it seems that Monique is already taken. Yep, she is already in a relationship. So whether there is actually room for a second chance between her and Marcel, is still the question.
