He’s breaking new ground! After the death of Queen Elizabeth II (✝96) in September last year, King Charles III. (75) crowned king in May. In November he celebrated his 75th birthday – and with it his first as a crowned king. On the occasion, the monarch also received numerous congratulations. The British regent has now thanked him very much for this. But with his official thank you card, Charles breaks with a royal tradition!
The St. Giles Cathedral account posted a picture of thanks on Instagram. For the photo on the card, the British king surprisingly decided against a formal portrait, as is usually the case. Instead, he chose a photo that shows him during a service in the cathedral. In the picture, Charles is in motion and is not looking directly into the camera. He writes: “I am very grateful to you for thinking of me on my 75th birthday and sending me such a touching message. I send you my warmest wishes, Charles.” This also means he is changing his old approach: he previously signed his reply cards with his title instead of his first name.
The royal fans are thrilled with the personal card: “What a wonderful photo,” enthuses one user under the post. “I love it!” writes another user. A third follower is particularly happy about the photo of the king: “I think it’s great that the answer was accompanied by a photo.”
