This weekend it’s King’s Day again! Do you have no plans yet for this typical Dutch holiday? No problem. These are the best last minute activities for the king’s birthday.
Go to the flea market
There are of course always nice flea markets throughout the country on King’s Day. If you don’t know what to do on King’s Day, it is always fun to stroll through one of the flea markets. You can also see if you can score a spot to sell your stuff yourself. You probably have a box somewhere with stuff that you no longer need!
Would you rather buy than sell? Then it can also be fun to go to another place to see what the flea market is like there. You already know your own hometown so well, go on a journey of discovery! Who knows, you might find a true treasure.
Organize a King’s Day brunch
Would you and your friends prefer to stay at home on King’s Day? Then you can organize a nice brunch. Ask your friends to each bring an orange treat. And of course a brunch is not complete without mimosas, and that drink just happens to be orange! What coincidence!
Make your own orange tompouces
It is great fun for the kitchen princesses to challenge themselves in the kitchen on King’s Day. Gather your friends and make a real Dutch delicacy together. Tompoucen are more difficult to make than you might think. Make it a competition and see who can achieve the best end result. And even if they don’t look nice, they are still tasty!
Go on a pub crawl
For girls who like to go out on King’s Day, it can be a lot of fun to go on a pub crawl. During a pub crawl you can meet a lot of new people, make new friends and discover new drinks and bars. A pub crawl is always fun, and especially on King’s Day this is a top activity!
Look for last minute parties
If you have no idea what you want to do on the day itself, you can always just go into town. This way you will most likely come across a party somewhere or meet people with fun plans. There is always something to do, especially in the big cities. So no matter how last minute it is, you always end up somewhere spontaneously.
