Last night the time had finally come: the big denouement of Married at First Sight on TV! Although it was no surprise to many, Gerben and Erik did not stay together. Pretty crazy actually, considering they were already dating before they started the program. Anyway, Gerben seemed to want to go all the way, while Erik clearly kept the brakes on. Ultimately, they decided to scribble under the divorce papers during their last conversation. Via Instagram, Gerben now looks back on his participation in the ultimate love experiment.
No partners for life
Immediately after the final episode of Married at First Sight on Wednesday evening, we got to see a little retrospective, something that normally doesn’t happen. The participants were immediately able to vent in front of the cameras. Gerben says: “I found out that we are not going to be partners for life.” According to Gerben, the two are too different. “Sometimes that can work, but unfortunately not in our case. We are now letting each other go. I want him to have a partner who can give him what he needs. I have learned that I will think more about myself in the future.”
Looking back on participating in Married at First Sight
Although Gerben had of course hoped that the experts would find him his dream partner, he does not look back negatively on his participation in Married at First Sight. On the contrary, Gerben has learned a lot thanks to his participation and the conversations with the experts. He writes: “It was a fantastic adventure that all started six months ago. An adventure full of love, tension and emotions. The whole adventure may not have given me the man of my dreams, but it has made me so much stronger, in the person who I am”, that’s incredibly beautiful, right? Gerben continues: “This is due to the support of all the lovely employees from front and behind the scenes. And certainly my thanks to Miriam, she was my coach for this entire adventure and I could go to her for all my questions or if I was concerned about anything. And the great thing about this whole adventure is that I have gained fantastic friends and they will never take them away from me.”
