As far as we know, wrinkles are caused by: the sun, smoking and simply by getting older. Now you can also add drinking through a straw to this list. Be warned…
Have an office job
You know it: sitting is the new smoking. But did you know that it is bad for your skin? Anyone who exercises for at least 30 minutes twice a week has noticeably better skin than someone who is a living beanbag. Eh, why don’t you just take a walk?
It’s not just the sitting aspect of an office job that has an influence. “Sitting in front of a computer for too long can also cause you to get wrinkles,” adds dermatologist Sonia Batra. “Frowning and squinting while staring at your computer screen can cause wrinkles above the bridge of your nose.” The same applies, of course, to using a tablet or smartphone. Tip: you can use creams to reduce the effect of the blue light filter. Such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream: it also contains SPF20 and the so-called Urban Pollution Defense Complex.
Having too clean a face
‘Too’ is never a good thing, right? There is therefore such a thing as a ‘too clean’ face. And that ensures that you get fine (and not so fine) lines on your face more quickly. By scrubbing your face too often, you remove the natural oils that protect, hydrate and block harmful substances from your skin.
Do not wear sunglasses to prevent wrinkles
You don’t have to store your sunglasses next to your bikini just yet. You also need it in the autumn and winter months. A bright morning sun still causes narrowed eyes and frowning eyebrows, resulting in young crow’s feet. A planga with a UV filter protects the thin skin around your eyes from sun damage.
Drink through a straw
Another good reason to say goodbye to plastic straws. Pursing your lips can make you more likely to develop fine lines around your mouth. The same lines that appear in heavy smokers.
