7 ways to romanticize your own life

‘If it makes you happy, then it’s not a waste of time.‘ A beautiful quote that is not followed by many people. Because of all the hustle and bustle, we often forget to enjoy life. Sometimes it is nice (and necessary) to romanticize your life. In this article we give you 7 ways to do this.

See the fun in everything

Life isn’t always fun. You cannot avoid the fact that things sometimes disappoint. Some people have more than others, although this difference also has to do with mindset. Consider the following example. Two people answer the same question: “Are you going to do anything fun today?”

“No, I don’t have time for that today… I have to work until half past four today and then quickly go home to eat. I also have to go to the gym, unfortunately the kilos don’t just fall off on their own. There probably won’t be much time left after exercising, so I’ll go back to bed.”

“Of course! Today I am working with a new colleague, I am very curious to see how that goes. Tonight I plan to cook a delicious pasta, I have been looking forward to it for days. And in the evening I always enjoy exercising with a friend. Then take a nice hot shower and hang out in front of the TV for a while. And then tomorrow is another day!”

Do you notice the difference? Two people with exactly the same schedule experience the day very differently. This has everything to do with the mindset. Try to see the fun in everything, that makes life so much more fun and easier.

Take yourself on a date

Why would you wait for someone else to ask you on a date, while dating yourself is also a lot of fun? Not only is it great fun, it is also nice that you do what you want. You don’t have to discuss it with anyone. We share some fun ideas for inspiration:

  • Have a delicious meal at your favorite restaurant;
  • Get your nails done;
  • Take a long walk through the park;
  • Go for a day of shopping in your favorite shopping center;
  • Find a cute lunch cafe and enjoy the tastiest lunch dishes;
  • Spend hours browsing the most beautiful bookstores and give yourself a few books as a gift;
  • Spend an afternoon painting;
  • Fill a basket full of treats, a rug and a nice book and enjoy a picnic in the park;
  • Visit the nicest and most interesting museums.

Buy flowers for yourself

Everyone appreciates a beautiful, cheerful bunch of flowers. Your house will immediately look more cozy if there is a bouquet of flowers in your interior. Therefore, buy yourself a bouquet of flowers every now and then. Not only does it give you a nice feeling when you come home, buying flowers is a fun activity in itself. The smell of fresh flowers and the wide choice of all those bright colors, doesn’t that make you happy?

Have a ‘self-care evening’

A ‘self-care evening’ means an entire evening dedicated to you. And really only from you. So turn off your messages and enjoy an evening of rest. Start the evening by cooking a delicious meal for yourself, choose your favorite dish and take your time. Put some music in the background and enjoy the delicious food. Then wash your body extensively in a nice, warm shower and take your time skincare. Bake (or buy) your favorite treats and stretch out on the couch, put on a nice movie and enjoy the evening.

Wherever you go, always take a book with you. Do you have to wait 5 minutes for the train? Grab your book. Are you 10 minutes early for a meeting? Read a little more. Try to replace the moments when you normally pick up your cell phone with reading a book. It’s better for your eyes and also a lot of fun.

Make your home attractive

Coming home to an attractive house immediately gives you a pleasant feeling. Therefore, do not put the lights on the brightest when you are at home. Dimmed lights not only add more atmosphere to your home, they also create a romantic feeling. Complete it by lighting some cozy candles. This adds a lot of atmosphere to your home, especially in the chilly, dark months.

Take care of yourself

The most important thing, of course, is that you take good care of yourself. Eat healthy and enough, do your skincare every day and exercise enough. Are you not feeling well mentally? Allow yourself to talk to a therapist or psychologist. Don’t make it too difficult for yourself, but try to challenge yourself too. Work hard for your future, but don’t forget to live in the now.
