Erik de Vogel and Caroline de Bruijn say: this is their secret for a good relationship

After thirty years, the chemistry still shines. How is that possible?

Ludo and Janine from Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden are perhaps the most iconic power couple in Dutch soap history. But, let’s be honest: Erik de Vogel and Caroline de Bruijn get quite a few bonus points because they are also a couple in real life. We wonder: what is their secret to a good relationship?

First meeting

Erik and Caroline met on the set of Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. Mind you: this was about thirty (!) years ago! The two quickly became an iconic couple in the series, but also in real life. The two are so in love with each other that they are still together in 2024 and they gave birth to a beautiful daughter in 2000. The only surprising thing about this story? The two still haven’t tied the knot, “although it feels that way,” they previously revealed to Story.

The key to a healthy and happy relationship

Still, many people think it’s great that the two literally do everything together. Living and working together, how do they cope? “We often get that question,” Caroline recently revealed to RTL Boulevard. Yet the answer is simpler than we would all think. Because what turns out to be the golden solution for a healthy and happy relationship? Caroline thinks Erik is ‘just a nice man’, so she doesn’t mind that they are together every day.

And Erik can also confirm this. “Working together is just something we are good at and both enjoy. I do not know what that is. I just think chemistry,” he said earlier in conversation with Froukje de Both.

No life without GTST

And although the two are crazy about each other, they are certainly not crazy about each other. For example, they told Story that it is not strange for them to say hello in the morning, but that four hours later they talk to each other on the phone again to catch up. In addition, Erik even revealed that he cannot imagine life without GTST. “As long as the program keeps getting better, I think it will become more and more fun.”
