‘So I discovered that I am very resilient: as a woman, but especially as a mother.’
Bibi Breijman has had an eventful year. But in addition to a few low points on a private level, the year also had a lot of high points. Because despite all the ‘drama’ of recent times, many beautiful things have also come her way. Bibi launched her debut album and an autobiographical double book.
Highlights
A few months ago Bibi launched her first single ‘Magic Potion’, a moment that she calls one of her highlights of the past year. “Writing and making music are what I enjoy most, that’s how I kept my head above water,” says the musical beauty. She describes the song’s release as ‘an outpouring of pent-up joy’. But in addition, writing both her single and her book also had a therapeutic effect. “Writing off all the pain and realizing when I read it back that the pain was actually worse than I initially thought,” she realizes.
Gossip
During this healing process, she discovered that she is more resilient than she thought. “As a woman, but especially as a mother. I stand for my family, and walking away would have been the easiest thing,” she says. “That was also expected of me, by society: your husband is cheating on you, so you have to pack your things and run away. And if you don’t, they say you’re going to let people walk all over you,” said the brunette.
According to Bibi, on the so-called juice channels they made her into something that she is not. The fact that Yvonne Coldeweijer, with whom she thought she was good friends, also spoke negatively about Bibi’s private situation, hurt her enormously. “That was another learning moment: that breaking up with a girlfriend can hurt just as much as ending a love relationship,” she concludes.
Stronger than ever
According to Bibi, the juice channels did not realize that she had her own plan at the time. “My priority was to keep myself – who had just given birth and was still in childbirth with stitches – and my family going.” Now, about a year and a half later, she knows that her plan worked out well. She believes that everything she has been through with her boyfriend Waylon has made them stronger. “It can hardly be otherwise when you get so much hate and shit thrown at you together,” she adds. She also indicates that she is aware that he has made mistakes and that she was of course angry. “But if you dwell on the past, you will never move forward in life.” And that’s just the way it is, Biebs!
