New year, new tasks!
For many, the Christmas holidays are already over. Back to school, to the lecture halls, or to the office – it’s all part of it. Queen Máxima is also hard at work again. Her first task this year is also related to a cause she has been committed to for a long time!
Get to work
The last stretch of the first semester has arrived for Princess Amalia, Princess Ariane has now returned to her boarding school in Duino, and Princess Alexia? She is undoubtedly also very busy with her gap year.
This week, Queen Máxima has also been working hard again. She flew to the United States for a two-day visit to New York and Washington.
United Nations
In addition to being a popular Orange face, Máx is also a special advocate of the Secretary General of the United Nations for inclusive financing for development – not really a name that rolls off the tongue, and the official abbreviation ‘UNSGSA’ is not much catchier . Anyway – that doesn’t detract from the importance of this feature, of course.

In this role, HRH held discussions yesterday with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterrees, and the Head of the United Nations Development Programme, Achim Steiner. She also spoke to the team she has behind her in the Big Apple, UNSGSA.
Today’s agenda in Washington included meetings with IMF director Kristalina Georgieva and meetings with all kinds of development organizations.
Milestone
Moreover, our queen has reached a very special milestone this year. This is her fifteenth year as a special advocate at the UN. Earlier this week, a special anniversary logo was unveiled in which a large ’15’ is the centerpiece.

For her appearance, Máxima dressed in an outfit by Natan, which, according to the experts of the Royal Fashion Police, she has had in her closet for a decade. A new year, but the same trusted designers – some things will probably never change!
