Ha, there are the Romanovs again!

The imperial descendants share a pleasant snapshot.

No land at their feet, no throne to sit on, but a budget for a private photographer and a lot of personal pride – that’s what the Romanovs are all about. This week, the descendants of the once grand Imperial House shared a cheerful new snapshot with the family. Time to check in: how are Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, son George, daughter-in-law Rebecca and grandson Alexander doing?

Family snapshot

The Romanovs are no longer invited to events of the various European royal houses, but fortunately there is regularly room for a pleasant photo session with the imperial descendants.

For example, they shared the above family photo that was taken this month in Rome, the city where daughter-in-law Rebecca was born in 1982. The cheerful photo clearly shows that the young Prince Alexander is growing like crazy! His Serene Highness Alexander Georgievich Romanov was born in October 2022, which means he is now almost a year and a half old. The little man doesn’t seem to have much interest in smiling at the bird.

In an interview with the Italian magazine Gente, his mother, Princess Rebecca, once revealed: “Alexander has a mind of his own, and sometimes he gets angry, but he is also playful and cheerful.” Ha!

However, in other snapshots from the same day, which the princess shared via her own account, the little man seems to be enjoying the photo session more.

Princess Rebecca also shared a photo of the very young prince with her own mother. “Grandmother’s love,” she captioned this photo.

Busy Romanovs

What else is the family concerned with? Fortunately, we can follow this closely via their Instagram accounts. For example, in Italy they attended the funeral of the controversial Prince Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, where they shared some photos that were liberally provided with hashtags such as #Savoia, #royals, #Romanov, and #funeral.

In addition, the necessary philanthropy was done…

‘About the other day in Rome….’, the princess writes very casually with the snapshot. She has remained so nice and normal, nun?

Romanov claims

Although the family around Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna is by far one of the most visible branches of the current generation of Romanovs, its claims as pretender to the throne are not entirely without controversy. Over the years, there have been several cousins who believe that they have more rights to the titles used by Maria Vladimirovna.

Fortunately, the Grand Duchess can count on support from the Russian Orthodox Church, which congratulated her on her seventieth birthday last year as ‘Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, Head of the Russian Imperial House’. And hey, they’re the most popular Romanov descendants on Instagram anyway. And that’s worth something, right?
