Let’s be honest, when you sign up for a reality show like Married At First Sight, you expect some drama. And believe me, last season certainly did not disappoint us! Between Anneke and Dirk it was a real rollercoaster from start to finish. Although the two seemed to have a fairytale wedding, it turned out that Anneke could no longer stand Dirk that same evening.
High expectations
In a recent interview with Veronica Superguide, Dirk now opens up about Anneke’s change in behavior during the wedding night of Married at First Sight. The moment the cameras stopped rolling, Anneke immediately changed her behavior. “I was told that I would marry a fantastic, sweet woman. Then your expectations are of course high,” Dirk reflects. But it didn’t take long before his love bubble was poked hard. “Anneke was in love with the picture and the entourage. When the wedding was coming to an end, we were in the bridal suite and the cameras disappeared, she threw in the towel at half past two.”
‘Scoring must be done on images’
Although the entire adventure has been a tough ride, Dirk no longer loses sleep over the rejection. “She definitely wouldn’t have fit in with my family.” Ouch! According to Dirk, there was simply not enough time to really get to know each other well during the recording of Married At First Sight. “It takes so much time that you don’t have time to get to know each other well without all those cameras. And of course you have to score on images.”
Dirk is in love again
But despite his failed marriage, Dirk has not given up hope in love. “I now have such a great connection with someone,” he says enthusiastically. There’s no way he would participate in a love program again. “I’m not going to risk what I have now.” He will keep the identity of this mysterious lady that Dirk is investigating a secret for the time being. And when asked if they will start dating, Dirk answers with a wink: “Who knows!”
Hate messages after Married at First Sight
After Married at First Sight, Anneke received a lot of negativity, but Dirk understands why. “If Anneke had had a different attitude and had fully participated in the experiment, she might not have received so many unpleasant reactions.” By the way, Dirk and Anneke can get along together again after the failed adventure. They even became friends. The two recently celebrated Pentecost together at a cozy campsite in South Limburg. Who would have thought that?!
