Sad news for Jordanian Crown Princess Rajwa

‘It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we say goodbye.’

Last year undoubtedly went down as one of Rajwa Al Hussein’s best years ever. As the fiancĂ©e of the Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein, she was welcomed with open arms at the court, and the couple’s beautiful wedding took place there on June 1. However, this year starts with particularly sad news for the couple.

Parting

Via his official Instagram account, Prince Hussein shared some very sad news last night: Princess Rajwa’s father, Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif, has passed away at the age of 71.

With a photo of him embracing his father-in-law, the prince writes: “It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we say goodbye to my dear father-in-law. We will always remember his kindness, generosity, and integrity. May God have mercy on him, and grant us patience and strength.”

His wife, Crown Princess Rajwa, is the youngest daughter of the late Khaled Al Saif and his widow, Azza Al Sudairi. Together they have four children: Faisel, Nayef, Dana, and of course Rajwa. Khaled Al Saif was the owner of the Al Saif Group, a major Saudi Arabian company involved in transportation and construction projects, and both parents have roots in historical tribes with connections to local sheikhs and monarchs.

Condolences

The Hashemite court shares the sad news via their official website and announces an official mourning period. As of Sunday, February 18, the court will officially mourn for three days.

It reads: “The Royal Hashemite Court extends its deepest sympathy and condolences to Their Majesties King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, and to the Al Saif family in these difficult times.”

Family

Over the past week, King Abdullah, with or without his wife, Queen Rania, has flown around the world for meetings with heads of state and prominent politicians. He arrived back in Jordan last Saturday. Hopefully the royal family will have enough time in the coming period to come to terms with this sad news.
