You might expect royals to renew their clothing and shoe collections every now and then. That is probably true, but they also have their favorites. Princess Kate knows this better than anyone. Prince William’s sweetheart has been attached to one specific pair of boots for years.
Style a la Kate
If you’re Princess Kate, your outfit is always analyzed from head to toe. This requires a strong fashion policy and over the years the princess has developed a rock-solid style. For example, there are a number of items in which we rarely see the royal appear. Kate is rarely photographed wearing an item of clothing in the color orange and the times she has appeared in shorts can be counted on a few hands.
On the other hand, her wardrobe also has the necessary key pieces, which she regularly pulls out of the closet. For example, she has countless different variations on the garment the marinière. The striped sailor sweater has certainly won a place in the princess’s heart.
Boots
Kate also has some clear favorites when it comes to shoes. She swears by the classic pumps from LK Bennet. However, if the princess goes for a more casual look, she regularly reaches for a pair of cool, timeless boots. And, People discovered that she has had this pair in her closet for twenty(!) years.
This is of course about Penelope Chilvers’ high boots. She reportedly bought the pair in 2004 for 547 euros, and since then she has combined the boots countless times with sporty, everyday outfits. When it became clear that Kate had taken the shoes to her heart, they were sold out everywhere in no time. Fun fact: the boots even appeared on the feet of Kate’s character in the series The Crown.
Outfits
In 2005, the princess appeared in a casual look at the Festival of British Eventing in Gatcombe Park. A cool hat adorned her head and the Penelope Chilvers’ could of course not be missing from this outfit.
Another moment when the boots completed Kate’s sporty outfit was when she visited Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden in 2018.
Penelope Chilvers’ hair also served in 2016 during a hike in Bhutan. The boots have already withstood a lot and we wonder whether she still wears the pair she bought in 2004, or whether she has now purchased one (or more) new pairs.
