And as you get older, it only becomes more difficult.
No one has to lose weight, but it’s not a problem if you want to get a little firmer in your skin. You may pay attention to your diet or go to the gym more regularly. Yet losing weight is quite a difficult task. And as you get older, it only gets harder.
Metabolism
Many women can relate: while in your teenage years you could eat anything without gaining an ounce of weight, things are different now. Your metabolism is slower than it was then. You can exercise until you weigh an ounce and pay as much attention to your food as you want, but it’s just not as easy as it used to be. Recognizable? We can blame it on your age.
Fewer calories
From the age of 25 you would already have a harder time, as from this age your body would need about 200 fewer calories per day. So if you continue to eat as before, you are structurally taking in too many calories. From the age of 30, your muscle mass slowly but surely decreases and this is then converted into fat. This also means you need fewer calories.
Even more difficult
Around age 50, things would get a little harder again. Your body would then need about 250 fewer calories. In this phase of life, this mainly has to do with your hormone balance, which changes a lot. Less testosterone and estrogen is produced and you will notice this in your metabolism.
