Of course we all know the well-known facial roller. This tool is said to give you firmer and more youthful skin, but is that really true? We went to investigate.
The facial roller
You hear and see them everywhere: facial rollers, jade rollers in particular, which you use to massage your face and apply skin care. But does it really work wonders for great skin? “Although jade rolling is popular, people have been using face rollers and sculpting tools (such as gua sha) made from smooth jade for centuries,” says Sabina Wizemann, senior chemist at Institute Beauty Lab. “The technique originated in China, where it was known for its healing and purifying effects,” she explains.
According to Wizemann, the facial roller helps you with the following things:
- Modeling, strengthening and firming the skin;
- It stimulates blood circulation;
- It helps you get a really glowy skin;
- It reduces bags under the eyes;
- It helps minimize fine lines;
- It improves the elasticity in your face;
- It helps skin care products penetrate better
How does it work?
You can use most facial rollers daily, but two to three times a week is also sufficient to see results. It is best to use it after you have applied a nourishing cream or oil to your skin, so that it rolls easily. Curious how you can use the thing? Then watch the video below.
Whether the tool really helps has not yet been clinically proven. But the techniques can relax the facial muscles and provide a cooling sensation on the skin, and the massage can have a firming effect over time.
