Princess Anne (73) is once again causing a stir! The only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II (✝96) has often proven that she is not the typical princess. She is always wonderfully approachable at royal appointments and appearances. The British woman recently traveled with her husband Timothy Laurence (68) to Sri Lanka on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Great Britain. When visiting a temple, Anne took off her shoes as befitting her status!
As People reports, the royal couple’s itinerary also included a visit to Vajira Pillayar Kovil. There they were welcomed by a dance group and presented with flower necklaces and silk scarves. Photos show Anne and Timothy then how they enter the temple without their shoes, which is a sign of respect. The two took part in a blessing there before Timothy smashed a coconut outside, which was a ritual to ward off bad luck.
Last year, Anne attended a record-breaking 457 royal appointments, making her the absolute leader among her family members. Heir to the throne Prince William (41) and his wife Princess Kate (42), however, were less able to shine – they ended up in sixth and seventh place on the Telegraph’s rankings with 172 and 128 appointments respectively.
