Snacking royally!
The holidays are really close now and that also means that we have to come up with all kinds of dishes for Christmas dinner. Are you in charge of the dessert and do you want to give it a royal touch? Then definitely try the Black Forest chocolate cake. As the name suggests, the recipe comes from Germany, and Princess Beatrix appears to be a major customer. That’s why we’ll tell you exactly how to make it!
Ingredients
For four tarts:
Preparation: 25 minutes – Oven: 15 minutes
- 160 grams of dark chocolate in pieces
- 160 grams of butter in cubes
- 2 eggs + 2 egg yolks
- 75 grams of fine granulated sugar
- 30 grams of flour sifted
- 240 grams of amarene cherries in syrup, drained, syrup collected
- cocoa powder for dusting
- vanilla ice cream to serve
- Also needed: 4 250 ml muffin tins, greased
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 ºC. Place rounds of baking paper cut to size on the bottom of the tins.
- Melt the chocolate with the butter in a bain marie in a heatproof bowl placed over a pan of gently simmering water (make sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water) and stir until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- In the meantime, beat the eggs and egg yolks with the sugar with the mixer at high speed until light and creamy. Fold in the cooled chocolate mixture and then carefully fold in the flour. Fill the molds halfway with the batter and place three cherries in each mold. Divide the rest of the batter over it.
- Bake the puddings for 13-16 minutes or until the tops feel firm and the edges release slightly from the pan. They are still a bit liquid on the inside.
- Remove from the oven, let cool in the tins for 5 minutes and carefully turn out onto preheated plates. Sprinkle with cocoa powder and divide the rest of the cherries over it. Serve with vanilla ice cream and drizzle over the reserved syrup.
And your royal cakes are ready. That will be a royal pleasure!
