Spanish court shares beautiful photos of King Felipe for anniversary

The king appears at his most regal.

Next Wednesday is the day: exactly ten years ago that King Felipe was proclaimed as the new King of Spain, following the abdication of his father, King Juan Carlos I, earlier that month. For the occasion, the Casa Real shares some dreamy photos of the monarch!

Anniversary

After months full of scandals, health problems and commotion, King Juan Carlos announced on June 2, 2014 that he would abdicate. His son Felipe, the then Prince of Asturias, had to take over from him.

Since then, Felipe has devoted himself wholeheartedly to the good cause, and above all: distanced himself as much as possible from the decadence, corruption, adultery and frivolities that so characterized his father at the end of his reign.

With his great love, Letizia by his side and two beautiful daughters, Leonore and Sofía, his proclamation took place on June 19, 2014.

Anniversary

Because sobriety reigns at the Spanish court, we should not expect grand glamor from them. The snapshots released by the court for the occasion show the king in his study in the Zarzuela Palace. Responsible, dutiful, and sober, but no less stylish!

As if that wasn’t enough, the Spanish court also shared a series of beautiful black and white photos. Let’s face it: doesn’t this look like it came straight out of a classic Hollywood film?

It helps, of course, that King Felipe has a great sense of style – thanks to his chic appearance at Wimbledon last year, he was already declared the outright fashion king.

Anniversary celebration

There will of course also be a small party next Wednesday to put the king in the spotlight. For example, a military parade takes place on the Patio de la Armería, a square located between the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. This is followed by the royal family from a balcony.

A reception will then take place in the Gasparini Hall with one hundred lucky guests, including nineteen people who will receive a knighthood. Princess Leonore will also play a special role in this – she will present the prize to the youngest recipient. This gives the eighteen-year-old princess another great opportunity to show herself as her father’s future successor.

Of course, there are many more ceremonies on the agenda for the rest of the day, and in the meantime, all kinds of activities are being organized outside for the general public. Moreover, El Debate reports that the festivities will last until June next year, at various locations throughout Spain. That bodes well!
