The Princess of Wales made her long-awaited return to the spotlight!
Today it was time again for Trooping the Colour, the annual military ceremony to celebrate the official birthday of the British monarch. King Charles is of course the radiant center here, but no one will deny that Princess Kate simply stole the show with her presence.
Return to public
Although there had been rumors for some time that the Princess of Wales would attend the ceremony today, she surprised last night by officially confirming the news herself in a particularly candid post on social media.
And today the day finally happened: for the first time in almost six months, Kate attended a royal event!
Trooping the Colour
As usual, Trooping the Color today was a big series of military pomp and circumstance. There was marching, saluting, and all kinds of marching songs were played.
This ceremony was again attended by several members of the British royal family. King Charles and Queen Camilla were of course present…
…Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward spent the ceremony in the saddle…
…Princess Catherine rode in a carriage with her offspring…
…And Duchess Sophie was accompanied in her carriage by both her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, and the Duke of Kent.
Shining in the rain
Although the sun showed itself occasionally during the ceremony, the festivities were largely accompanied by a lot of rain. Luckily, the royals looked their most regal today!
The gigantic smile of the clearly overjoyed princess was almost impossible to get off her face.
She also shared several sweet moments with son Louis by her side. How sweet is the above snapshot?
For the occasion, the Princess of Wales dressed in subtly contrasting outfits with her children. For example, Kate wore a white dress with dark accents, and George, Charlotte and Louis in turn wore dark blue outfits with light accents.
The princess’s white gown is reportedly a Jenny Packham one that she also wore a few times last year – albeit with some adjustments. For example, the light accent at the waist is new, and the dress previously did not have a bow on the neckline. Kate’s impressive hat is a new one from designer Philip Treacy.
Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, in turn, wore a soft yellow outfit by Beulah London, with a hat by Jane Taylor. Daughter Louise wore a colorful Suzannah London dress with a hat borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe, also by Jane Taylor.
Queen Camilla, in turn, wore a light green gown and coat from Anna Valentine. She also chose a new headgear from Philip Treacy today.
Moment supreme
Naturally, the event ended with a traditional flypast by the British Air Force and a balcony moment with all royals present.
After all the tension that the royal family has had to endure in recent months, they can now look back on this day with satisfaction. Hopefully, both King Charles and Princess Catherine will be able to recover from the busy schedule in the coming days!
