Máxima’s jewelry safe contains several designs by Joel Arthur Rosenthal, who works under the name JAR. During the photo session a new pair showed up.
Joel Arthur Rosenthal was born in 1943 in New York. After studying art history and philosophy at Harvard University, he left for Paris to open an embroidery shop. In the wonderful melting pot of creativity, he quickly stood out for his unusual color combinations. Major fashion brands such as Valentino and Hermès were even lining up for a collaboration. After a short excursion to the jewelry brand Bulgari, it was time for the next step in 1977: her own jewelry label. Joel Arthur’s use of color was – and is – also striking in this adventure, as were his bold choices in proportion and material. In 2013 he was the first jewelry designer ‘living’ to exhibit in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Long story short: Máxima’s JAR jewelry is not just any gadget. Only seventy new pieces are added each year, which are offered to a select customer base. Due to this exclusivity, the jewels are in great demand at auction.
Máxima’s earrings today depict sweet peas. The material is white resin. This is crushed stone mixed with synthetic resin. The liquid composition of the material allows you to pour it into a mold and bring the most creative shapes to life. On April 7, 2022, they were sold at auction for more than 4,000 euros.
Máxima’s JAR collection started with gold fan earrings, which first appeared in 2016.
