You can’t start early enough.
He may only be one year old, but Prince François of Luxembourg already has tasks on the agenda. At the beginning of this week, he went with his parents to baptize his own ceremonial rose during a ceremony. Learned young is done old, so to speak!
Baptize Rose
A special milestone for François: the youngest son of Guillaume and Stéphanie of Luxembourg attended a ceremony with his parents in the rose garden of Munsbach Castle, where he himself played a special role. It has been a tradition since 1891 that each member of the Grand Ducal family baptizes a rose, which is also named after him or her. At the end of the 19th century, Luxembourg was known for its rose cultivation, and they would like to honor that history.
For François the day had finally arrived. The photos show how the young prince – with some help from his parents – waters the flowers with a golden watering can. Touching!

On a working visit
Despite the young age of little Prince François, he has already been present on several working visits, because Guillaume and Stéphanie regularly take him and his brother Charles with them. For example, in November 2023 the two princes attended a visit to a foundation where people with disabilities work. In the same month, his grandparents, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, took the little princes to an exhibition.
Recently, young François was taken to a nursing home by his parents. The little charmer put a smile on the faces of the residents, who were only too happy that the little prince came to visit. The court also shared a number of beautiful snapshots of this:
