With a seriously ill king and crown princess, there is of course a large gap in the number of working British royals. Fortunately, there is Princess Anne, who is willing to significantly scale up her royal duties. Daily Mail writes that the Princess Royal has shown extreme solidarity by taking on a third of all royal duties in the first four months of this year.
Setbacks
In recent months, the British Royal Family has had to deal with quite a few setbacks. First it was announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer, and not much later, against all expectations, Princess Kate announced that she was also battling this terrible disease.
Besides the fact that this is of course emotionally difficult for the family, it also affects more practical matters. Before their diagnosis, Charles and Kate were both among the most active working royals, so now that they are temporarily out of action, quite a bit of manpower is lost. And guess what? It is Princess Anne who has managed to partly fill that gap over the past four months.
Princess Anne
According to Court Circular, Princess Anne’s number of royal duties increased by 2 percent in the first four months of this year compared to last year. That doesn’t sound like much – unless you know how much work the Princess Royal normally has to do. Because she may have now reached the respectable age of 73; Princess Anne continues to work as usual. After all, retiring within the palace walls is not done, and Anne is also a born hard worker. It is not without reason that the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth was named the hardest working royal of the year by Court Circular last year. With the counter at 457 royal obligations in 2023, she even beat her brother and new King Charles. Just saying.
Good: Anne’s agenda was already well filled, but as long as Charles and Kate take it easy, she will step it up even more. The princess is clearly the rock of the British royals!
