You know how it is: difficulty falling asleep or waking up often, only to be very tired the next day. These tips will help you have a good day after a bad night.
What to do after a bad night?
Sleepless hours, waking up every half hour or bad dreams: a bad night’s sleep is never fun. In addition, it can affect your daily life. When you get up you can often still be tired and irritated, or very confused. It is difficult to get through the day well, but fortunately we have a number of tips that will help you.
1. Avoid caffeine in the afternoon
A cup of coffee in the morning can help you wake up after a bad night’s sleep, but caffeine won’t do you any good if you take it in the afternoon. It is best to avoid these drinks so that you can sleep well the next evening.
2. Outside air
Fresh air really works wonders when you’re tired. For example, take a short walk to work or during your break, or sit in the garden with the sun on your face. You will definitely feel better soon!
3. Get up on time
Even if you have slept poorly, you should not try to sleep in. Try to get up at the same time as normal, because a routine is important for your body, even after a bad night. Don’t stay in bed for hours, because that will only make you feel worse.
4. Power nap
A power nap, on the other hand, really can’t hurt. Are you still very tired in the afternoon? Then take a short nap of twenty to thirty minutes. This way you will not fall into a deep sleep and you will wake up rested. A deep sleep has many disadvantages, while an afternoon nap can really boost your energy level.
5. Drink water
It may sound obvious, but you need to hydrate well if you want to boost your energy levels. That means: drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure you don’t become dehydrated. Dehydration only makes you more tired, something we certainly don’t want after a bad night.
6. Smart planning
Save the most challenging and difficult tasks for the times when your energy is highest, and start and end your day with some easier tasks. This way you can work efficiently, and don’t forget to take breaks to give yourself a moment of rest!
