This is how King Charles carries his grandchildren with him

The king wore a special accessory this week.

Royalty fans couldn’t believe their luck when King Charles made his first working visit in a long time this week. For this occasion, the king put on a special outfit, with a small nod to his grandchildren.

T-rex tie

Charles appeared with his Camilla at the cancer treatment center UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, where he spoke to various patients and medical specialists. And the king did so in a special outfit: he wore a T-rex tie!

It is barely visible from a distance, but when you zoom in (swipe below) it is clear that the tie is printed with small dinosaurs.

Gift

The – now famous – pink tie was probably a Christmas present from the grandchildren. Charles was spotted wearing the T-rex tie for the first time at the beginning of last year, and there was already a lot of speculation about who this accessory came from. According to Hello! Magazine, both Prince George and Prince Louis are big fans of prehistory and dinosaurs, so there’s a good chance they at least helped figure it out.

The design of the tie may also indicate a small inside joke within the family. Charles’ uses the letter ‘R’ after his name, which stands for ‘Rex’ – the Latin word for ‘king’. Ha!

Working visit

Whatever the origin of his T-rex tie, we’re certainly happy to see the king is back on the road. The visit to the cancer treatment center was the king’s first working visit since his cancer diagnosis, which was announced by Buckingham Palace in early February. His public work was temporarily stopped so that he could fully focus on the treatment. And there was good news about this last week: “The medical team is very encouraged by the progress made so far and remains positive about the king’s further recovery,” a spokesperson for the Royal House said.

However, the fact that the king resumes his royal duties does not mean that he has been cured of cancer. The medical treatment has therefore not yet been fully completed. We wish him all the strength in the journey to come!
