A cheerful atmosphere in Bhutan!
Yesterday was the party at the court of Bhutan! Prince Ugyen Wangchuck, the second child of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema, was allowed to blow out four candles. And that was celebrated with a sweet photo session of the royal family!
Happy family
A little dismayed, the birthday boy in the snapshots holds up his Bhutanese flags. Well: just explain to a four-year-old that a photo session is really necessary on your birthday.
Little Gyalsey, as Bhutanese princes are called, was born on March 19, 2020 as the second son of the Druk Gyalpo (Dragon King) and Druk Gyaltsuen (Dragon Queen). This meant that their first son, Prince Namgyel Wangchuck, instantly had a little brother.
Although the older prince doesn’t really seem to want to smile in the above snapshot, other photos over the years show that the two sons get along just fine.
Look at those heads together!
Big Brother
By the way, Prince Ugyen is no longer the youngest of the family these days. Last September, the Bhutanese court announced that the queen had given birth to her first daughter. We had to wait a while for the name, but in December it was revealed that the young princess goes by the name Sonam Yangden Wangchuck.
Royal future
Although little Prince Ugyen, as a spare, feels less pressure from the throne, we can assume that the prince will be trained in the coming years as the support and support of his older brother, the crown prince.
We have recently seen that Prince Namgyel – only eight years old, by the way – is already regularly given royal duties to perform. From ceremonial tasks to religious events: the young heir to the throne does not sit still. We suspect that it will only be a matter of a few years before we also see Prince Ugyen performing his first princely duties.
For now, we mainly hope that the toddler was able to enjoy his birthday a bit – away from the cameras.
