Preparations for the third Mamma Mia! movie
Earlier we read about rumors going around about a third Mamma Mia! movie and luckily all rumors came true, because the preparations have started. For example, it took exactly ten years before part two came out after the original Mamma Mia! movie. According to an interview with Vogue, the second part of the movie stirred up a lot among the actors (and fans), because everyone got even more excited about filming a third part after filming the second part. For example, Amanda Seyfried (Sophie in the Mamma Mia! movie) said that she would do a third movie for free, because she wanted it so much. Luckily, Amanda’s dream came true and we can soon enjoy part three!
The cast of the film
Producer Judy Craymer has revealed that she is currently working on the third Mamma Mia! film. A start date has yet to be announced by Universal Studios, but Judy is already speculating about a good plot for the film. Christine Baranski, who plays Tanya in the film, also revealed that preparations for the third Mamma Mia! film are going well. She said: “We’ll all be on some fabulous Greek or Croatian island having a blast, I hope”.
Furthermore, the original cast will return in the film, such as Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, Dominic Cooper and of course Amanda Seyfried. Don’t worry, because Donna played by Meryl Streeps who died at the end of part two in the film, makes a comeback in part three in a surprising way.
Release Date
Unfortunately, there is no release date yet, but it is already a good sign that the preparations are in full swing according to the producers and actors. There is a big chance that Mamma Mia! part three will really be the last film, because Judy indicated in the interview with Vogue that she wants to close off the characters. But we are already very happy with a part three. So put that ABBA music list on repeat, because Mamma Mia is probably coming back!
