We have already spotted several royals with the low bun!
Summer is approaching and that promises many new trends in fashion, make-up and hairstyles. While the ‘wet hair look’ was extremely popular a few summers ago, this hairstyle is now being exchanged for the ‘wet hair bun’.
The wet hair bun
The bun is a perfect hairstyle on a day when your hair is actually a bit too greasy, but you don’t have time to wash your hair. The hairstyle combines two trends, namely the wet hair look and the classic tight bun. Perfect for when you have a fancy occasion. The wet hair bun fits right in with royal chic hairstyles.
Seen with royals
The low bun is of course a hairstyle that we often see on Royal members. This is how our own Queen Máxima knows how to wear the low classic bun…
…and Meghan Markle wears the classic hairstyle with a twist: the wet look bun.
How do you make the wet look bun?
You can create this popular wet look bun by applying gel to your roots and ends and spraying hairspray over it. You don’t need expensive styling products or difficult accessories for this. All you need is some gel, an elastic band and a can of hairspray.
For this look it is useful if you have towel-dried hair. But if you go for this look if your hair is oily, that’s fine too. First run a brush through your hair and then apply hair gel – lots of it! – on your hand and spread it over the entire length of your hair. Gather your head of hair into a low ponytail, making sure there are no bumps on the top of your hair. Twist your hair into a bun and secure it with an elastic band. If necessary, use a few bobby pins to secure your bun properly. Use some hairspray to keep your hair in place, and ta-da: you’ve created the wet look bun.
