The red tights are hot: this is how you wear them

Are you going for it?

No matter how hard you try, you can’t ignore the red tights. From the catwalk to the street: the fashion world has embraced the striking garment. And when you see how chic you can combine it, you will probably be convinced too.

The popularity of the red tights

The red tights are not exactly inconspicuous, but that doesn’t stop fashion lovers from wearing them en masse. Striking trends often take some time to get used to. Many A-listers have now completely embraced the trend. The early adapters were actresses Elle Fanning and Anya Taylor-Joy. They were one of the first to rock red tights.

Elle wore one during the press day of her series The Great in April 2023. Even earlier, actress Anya Taylor-Joy was spotted wearing it. The red tights were part of her ensemble when she appeared on Good Morning America to talk about her film The Menu.

Statement item

The red tights are not just a piece of clothing, they are a statement item. Just like red lipstick or a pair of killer heels, red tights demand attention. And while it may seem like this trend is only for the daring cool girls, nothing could be further from the truth. The styling can of course be as daring as you want, but you can also keep it subtle. We share inspiration: from striking to more modest.

A bit modest

As you can see above, you can also shape the trend in a modest way. For example, by combining burgundy red tights with items from your capsule wardrobe. Think of a black skirt with a white top and black blazer. Make the whole thing a little more striking with the red tights. Also very chic: wear shoes in the same color as the tights.

Do you want to go all out with your outfit? Then it can be very nice (and still chic!) to go for a monochrome red look.
