Style runs in the family.
Our queen is known for her stylish outfits. Máxima’s wardrobe is full of pieces from the Belgian fashion house Natan, but she also often puts the spotlight on outfits by Iris van Herpen. Not only are we pleased with her outfits, the princesses also seem to follow their mother’s lead.
Monochrome outfits
Máxima regularly pulls out a monochrome look. She dresses in one color from head to toe. Nice and simple, but it also looks chic. With matching accessories the look is complete. Because the items belong together, the queen does not have to think long about the possible combinations. That saves a lot of time, and this also seems to be the preference of the princesses. On King’s Day 2024, Princess Ariane wore a three-piece monochrome suit from the Italian fashion house Max Mara. Because the outfits are simple, the attention is completely on the princesses’ faces. That’s also an advantage, because we really want to see the princesses, nun?

Striking earrings
The eldest daughter, Princess Amalia, also seems to be following her stylish mother’s tips. The princess often brightens up her outfits, just like her mother, with large colorful earrings. This also ensures that attention is drawn to the face. For example, Amalia took several pairs of statement earrings with her in her suitcase to the Caribbean part of our kingdom. The princess regularly wore these striking accessories on the royal trip.

Cool and chic
We could describe Princess Alexia’s style as cool but also chic. The princess is not seen every day in a typical princess dress, she often gives her outfits an edgy twist. Occasionally she appears in a more rugged item, such as a denim suit, but mainly wears dresses in her own way. For example, the queen’s middle daughter wore a fitted dress with a loose-fitting coat and sturdy boots on King’s Day. This gives the chic outfit a cool edge. We also see this in our stylish queen who is regularly seen in loose-fitting clothing and leather and denim items.

Clothing swap
The princesses even appreciate Máxima’s taste in clothing so much that they sometimes borrow items from their mother’s closet. For example, in 2018, Alexia already wore a denim jacket that her mother was seen in on Queen’s Day in 2004. But Máxima also sometimes takes a look in her daughters’ closet. For example, on a cold day she wore a royal blue coat in which Amalia already appeared in 2021. Too nice!
