Following on from the success of the series, 456 candidates competed in the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge for prize money of 4.23 million euros. The finale has already flashed across fans’ screens – but the winner still hasn’t received his reward. Now it is known why the prize has not yet been paid out!

A source explains to TMZ why the show’s winner, Mai Whelan, still hasn’t received her money. According to the tipster, she, like all the other participants, signed a contract stipulating that the jackpot would not be paid out until 30 days after the final episode aired. Since the last episode was only published on December 6th, the player with number 287 has to wait until January 5th, 2024 until the millions arrive in her account.
Just a few days ago, Mai revealed in an interview with The Times that she had not yet received her bonus. “I feel like Tom Cruise (61) in ‘Jerry Maguire’. Give me the money!” she demanded at the “Squid Game: The Challenge” watch party in New York City.
