Mon dieu!
We now know that you don’t always have to reach for fancy skincare products to keep your skin as healthy as possible. This way you can reduce wrinkles with simple tricks and achieve glowy skin with just as simple tips. The French also have a tip. If we can believe them, you can also effortlessly nourish your skin with a… banana! Mon dieu!
Bananas as a skincare ingredient
A banana as an ingredient for your skin care sounds crazy, but it’s actually not that strange. After all, we have been adding nutrients to care products for years. For example, we wouldn’t be surprised if a mask is enriched with avocado oil, right? Bananas are apparently the new staple to include in your skincare routine.
According to Shirley Billot, founder of French-Caribbean beauty brand Kadalys, people are increasingly turning to nature for sustainable beauty solutions. Bananas fit perfectly into this picture. She explains to Coveteur that banana trees have effective and therapeutic benefits for your skin. Its extracts act as an anti-aging shield for the skin and have a stronger antioxidant power than argan oil. This means the skin is better protected against harmful free radicals and is less susceptible to signs of aging.
Advantages
There are also other beauty benefits to be gained from bananas. It has a healing effect on your skin, helps to hydrate the skin and provides it with a glow. Dermatologist Jennifer Herrmann also sees the benefits. According to her, it can therefore be good to use beauty products that contain bananas as an ingredient. ‘Bananas are a good source of alpha hydroxy acids and help skin glow.’
Bananas in skin care products also have a healing effect. If you are sensitive to pimples, it can therefore be beneficial to use products that contain banana extract. Herrmann agrees. For example, the dermatologist knows that it has been scientifically proven that the juice extracted from banana peels has antimicrobial properties. So it certainly can’t hurt to use care products that contain bananas. Let’s give it a try!
