What a lovely start to the new year for Petra Kvitova! The Czech has been a super successful tennis player for several years – for example, she won the Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. But things couldn’t be better for her in her private life either: she has been married to her trainer Jiří Vaněk since this year. And now they are starting their own family: Petra is expecting a baby!
The 33-year-old announced this via Instagram. “On the first day of 2024, I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and share the exciting news that Jiří and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!” Petra announces with anticipation. She also shares sweet snapshots of herself and Jiří – in one they are holding an ultrasound image of their little miracle into the camera, in another they are beaming with a romper in their hands.
Petra will soon be taking a maternity break – her tennis colleague Naomi Osaka (26) was back on the field for the first time after the birth of her child. After 15 months she celebrated her tennis comeback in Brisbane – with success. She won the first round match of the WTA tournament against Tamara Korpatsch. “It really feels very good to be back. To be honest, I’m very proud of myself. I think I played at a pretty good level,” emphasized the athlete after her win, according to Spiegel.
