For world star Taylor Swift and her Swifties, the 2024 Grammys are currently the best night of the year. Not only does the singer break a record, she also has big news for the fans. During one of her award speeches she unexpectedly announces a new album. OMG!
Taylor Swift releases new album
Taylor Swift’s announced new album comes somewhat unexpectedly to fans. The singer-songwriter is currently still busy releasing her re-recordings. She previously re-recorded her first six albums, the masters of which were ‘stolen’ by her old record company. In this way she wants to regain the rights to her old music. That has already been quite successful and only reputation and her self-titled debut album are left. There were already rumors online that one of these albums was coming. Except Taylor apparently had a snack for in between.
Release date
During her award speech at the Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album. “I want to thank the fans by letting you in on a secret,” she begins at one point. “That I’ve been hiding from you for the past two years.” Then it starts to dawn on fans present in the audience. The screams only get louder when she announces her “brand new album”. Ooh!
The new one is called The Tortured Poets Department and will be released on Friday, April 19, 2024. However, real fans can already pre-order the album via her website. The album has a total of sixteen new songs including the bonus track The Manuscript.
Record at Grammys
As mentioned, Taylor will also break a record during the 2024 Grammys. During the major musical award show, she received the award for Best Album for the fourth time. This breaks a record in the history of the Grammys. As a surprise, singer Céline Dion, who has been struggling with health problems for some time, presents the award to Taylor for her album Midnights. She previously received Grammy awards in the Best Album category for folklore (2021), 1989 (2015) and Fearless (2010).
