And, thanks to Stephanie, we received another golden tip yesterday. The blouse that Princess Amalia wore in the photo below…
… comes from the Danish label Sissel Edelbo. The special thing about these garments is that each item is unique! Amalia wears the Bibi Balloon model. This is made from vintage saris from India.
The label Sissel Edelbo
Sissel Edelbo originally emerged from the friendship between Jeanne Sissel Thomsen and Christina Edelbo. These childhood friends started the label in 2004 based on their vision to create a fashion brand based on pure values. This label therefore considers it important that all employees are treated fairly and with respect and work under good working conditions. An Indian employee has been specially hired as a controller, who visits suppliers and talks to everyone within the chain on a daily basis.
Saris
On the Sissel Edelbo website you can read the following section (and I quote):
The sari forms the core of Sissel Edelbo’s products. A sari is the traditional Indian garment that is worn draped around a woman’s body. At Sissel Edelbo, we pay tribute to the sari through our reinterpreted design, all sewn primarily from existing saris. The sari is considered the oldest traditional garment.
We enjoy working with recycled materials and always look forward to selecting saris for new collections. Although we have been working with vintage saris since 2004, it is always exciting to browse through the collected piles of saris from all over India. Their beautiful prints help us define a Sissel Edelbo style – and we have a very special style, characterized by the saris that intuitively speak to our aesthetic.
